OVERVIEW

Are you an enterprising academic with the ability to think outside the box and proven experience in delivering innovative educational programs? We are looking to appoint you as part of ECU’s partnership with Apple to lead the establishment of the first Apple Foundation Program in Perth, based in 2026 at ECU’s new City Campus.

THE ROLE

Edith Cowan University has commenced an innovative academic partnership with Apple and the position will play a key role in this partnership. You will be the inaugural Apple Foundation Program Coordinator, charged with establishing the program for successful delivery in 2026 and beyond.

Primarily, you will be responsible for:

  • pedagogical leadership of the Program including direct supervision of the teaching team and participating in delivering the Program from time to time;
  • all matters related to the quality of teaching and learning, evaluation, professional development, and learning outcomes; and
  • direct responsibility for driving the local community for student recruitment and graduate success, as well as with key stakeholders at ECU and Apple.

Please see below for a detailed role statement.

In this role, you will join a university-wide team who are building ECU’s ambition for our creative future and interconnect your development of the Apple Foundation Program with their work.

You will also be a member of the Design academic group and have the chance to undertake relevant research and/or teaching in design (including design thinking and service design) when not focused on the primary work of leading the Apple Foundation Program. The general responsibilities of this position include developing and teaching course content (including supervising other academics), collaborating with others on research projects as well as conducting your own research, and showing leadership in innovation to achieve the school and university’s strategic goals, particularly in developing our partnership with Apple.

If you are ready to take your academic career in a new direction and focus on innovative, enterprising applications of your skills and knowledge in partnership with Apple, this role is for you.

SELECTION CRITERIA

You will have a PhD or equivalent experience and qualifications, relevant to design and the delivery of innovative programs. You will need to demonstrate, based on past achievement and potential for future development, that you can:

  1. lead the successful implementation of agreed programs of study that are part of strategic university-industry partnerships;
  2. teach effectively with an emphasis on challenge-based pedagogies that foster student engagement, understanding, and achievement  (including leading and developing other academics to teach effectively);
  3. conduct high-quality research with successful publication outcomes and social impact, including through the supervision of student projects;
  4. develop and establish innovative programs to recruit students, engage the public and meet the needs of our community;
  5. work successfully with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outstanding results for mutual benefit; and
  6. work collegially within our scholarly community guided by the overall goals of the University.

You will be expected to demonstrate personal attributes congruent with the University’s values of integrity, respect, rational inquiry, personal excellence, and courage.
