About the role

The Australian Reinforcing Company (ARC) are looking for a driven Maintenance Fitter who can work collaboratively and be responsible for managing breakdowns, planned maintenance and improving operations for our Wallsend site.

You will have backing and autonomy in a dynamic role with an opportunity to showcase your skills as a motivated leader. Training will be provided for specialised machinery, and you will work friendly hours from 6am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday with some occasional overtime available. The team is highly safety focused and process driven, and we have fun whilst improving the site.  

Duties include:

  • Daily planning and problem solving of service events
  • Overseeing corrective and preventative maintenance to Fixed plant and machinery attending to breakdowns if the need arises 
  • Troubleshooting, fault-finding and identifying opportunities for improvement 
  • Liaison with other trades in the workshop and external contractors
  • Completion of all tasks to a high quality and with high regard to safety
  • Providing feedback and keeping accurate records of completed work through maintenance management system 

You will be a Maintenance Fitter who values safety, efficiency, and teamwork. You are a driven, a good communicator, and has the initiative to be effective in this role.

We would love to hear from reliable and enthusiastic candidates who can demonstrate the following: 

  • Hold relevant mechanical trade qualification and ideally a background in Heavy Industry 
  • Experience in preventative and breakdown maintenance
  • Adaptable with exceptional fault finding and troubleshooting skills 
  • Have a proactive approach, whilst holding safety and customer as core values 
  • Confident communicator who can work unsupervised and ability to problem solve 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings 
  • Knowledge in Hydraulics and Pneumatics is highly desirable
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with asset management systems will be highly regarded
